Shared Spaces
We've got the space, you share your work.
To aid in the creation of more space and opportunity for Chicago-based dance artists to present their work, Solarium Dance Company invites YOU to apply to be part of "Shared Spaces" on April 10th, 2026 at The Edge Theater.
Details:
Application Closes March 14th, 2026
Selected pieces will receive notice by March 16th, 2026
To confirm acceptance, participants will be asked to pay a media fee of $20. This will include full access to high-quality images of your work after the performance. There are no additional fees associated with Shared Spaces.
Tech Rehearsals will take place between 3pm-7pm on April 10th, prior to the performance.
Each work will be allotted up to 4 light cues and a blackout.
Performance will take place on April 10th at 7:30pm at The Edge Theater (5451 N Broadway, Chicago, IL 60640)
Tickets will go on sale on March 20th. We would appreciate your help in spreading the word! Each choreographer will receive one comp ticket to the performance.
As a community-focused showcase, we are unable to offer performance stipends. Our goal is to provide a low-cost, high-production-value platform for Chicago artists to share their work and walk away with professional promotional materials.
Criteria for Selected Works:
Seeking independent choreographers. We encourage applications from a broad spectrum of artists, regardless of age, background, or identity, and value a diverse range of creative perspectives.
Selection is based on a dual-priority system: we will honor the order of application while ensuring the final program reflects a diverse and curated range of artistic voices. Anyone not selected will automatically be moved to a waitlist.
To ensure a dynamic program that features as many artistic voices as possible, all works are strictly limited to a maximum of 5 minutes. Adherence to this timeframe allows us to maintain the integrity of our production schedule and honor each participant's stage time.
To facilitate seamless transitions and maintain the momentum of the program, use of set pieces, large props, or furniture (including tables, chairs, and couches) is not permitted. Additionally, street shoes, liquids, sharp objects, and glitter are not permitted.
