Jana Bennett

Jana Bennett is a contemporary choreographer, educator, and movement researcher based in Denver, Colorado. She holds a BFA in Modern Dance from Texas Christian University. A former professional dancer, founder of the pre-professional contemporary training program Skunkworks Dance, and current director of Dance By Jana, she specializes in contemporary choreography, technique, improvisation, and personal performance training for dancers.

Jana's choreography has been commissioned and presented professionally by Dance City Festival, Thodos Dance Chicago, DanceWorks Chicago's NEW Dances, Women In Dance, and, upcoming this season, Solarium Dance Chicago, among others. She is known for highly physical, emotionally charged contemporary choreography that blends bold, European-influenced movement with storytelling, theatricality, and immersive audience engagement, using the human experience as its core. Her teaching combines dance science, creativity, and brain-body integration to help dancers become more confident, expressive, and versatile artists. Dancers Jana has trained have gone on to perform with companies including Gibney Company and Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and have continued their education at programs such as The Juilliard School and Boston Conservatory, among others.
